  1. kinda old.. but.. I've had the exact same problem as you.. what parents want you to do is to PROVE to them that you are interested in photography. You must learn how to take exceptional shots with your current camera and learn to frame it properly.. Show the pictures to them.. Keep doing it, while asking them, and telling them what the D3000 can do which this camera can't do. And you also need to have an ABSOLUTELY FIRM foundation first before proceeding. Remember, the sky's the limit. Only if you can make a good shot with your current camera (be it a phone or whatever), can you get your D3000. ALWAYS REMEMBER: Give a professional photographer a handphone to shoot a picture, and give an amateur a D3S to shoot a picture, the professional will still do a MUCH BETTER JOB.

Just a lil advice mate. That's how I got my Nikon D90, my first DSLR. Parents don't want to spend a bomb on a DSLR when they are NOT CONFIDENT that you'll use it forever. They are afraid you may lose interest, which MAY actually happen. Start putting the current camera (even if it's a phone or whatever) to good use. Cheers.. P.S. I know this is old. If you already have your D3000, good for you. If not, keep trying. Good luck. Drop me a message if you feel like it.. danielmaverick.blogspot.com
